Finally! I’ve made it into the last half of the book, and the plot is quickly picking up speed. For me, a good book pulls me in with a compelling plot, and I was a bit worried for this one. It started out as a slow build, quite the setup for main conflict, but 30 chapters in, it all finally broke.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, hence the lack of details. Suffice it to say that originally I thought the plot was too ambitious, that it could have been simplified and one story line eliminated altogether. But the author timed it perfectly so that everything hit a head at just the right time for maximum disaster at the expense of our main characters.
I hate to say that the word mishaps have continued thus far, and I fear they will last the duration of the novel. Which I should be finished with tomorrow.
Stay tuned.
